LifeandLeadership.com Summary

This is one of several volumes by Alcorn on finances. It applies most of the insights of his previous works to the issues of personal financial stewardship. It covers biblical teaching on the issues (including sound evaluations of prosperity theology), and offers practical how-tos on subjects including debt, gambling, planning for the future, inheritance, teaching your children about money, etc. An insightful feature is Alcorn’s distinction between the popular “simple” lifestyle and a “strategic” lifestyle. He says, “Simple living may be self-centered. Strategic living is Kindgom-centered.” And further, “If I’m devoted to ‘simple living,’ I may reject a computer because it’s modern and nonessential. But if I live a strategic lifestyle, the computer may serve as a tool for Kingdom purposes.” (163)

This will be good for personal financial development, but for church leaders, it is a helpful tool for stewardship education.

From the Publisher

God cares a great deal more about our money than most of us imagine. The sheer enormity of Scripture’s teaching on this subject screams for our attention. In fact, Jesus says more about how we are to view and handle money and possessions than about any other topic— including both heaven and hell.

In Managing God’s Money, Randy Alcorn breaks down exactly what the Bible has to say about how we are to handle our money and posessions in a simple, easy-to-follow format. Filled with Scripture references, Managing God’s Money is the perfect reference tool for anyone who is interested in gaining a solid biblical understanding of money, possessions, and eternity.
