LifeandLeadership.com Summary

This is a collection of articles arranged by the editors of Leadership journal on most conceivable areas of church administration. It is probably more appropriately called a “Dictionary of Church Administration,” in the same way that ministers use dictionaries for theology, ethics, etc. It is not quite the same genre as other church administration manuals that provide check-lists, how-to guides, and sample forms. Instead, it offers current insight and perspectives on administrative matters. The articles are brief, but packed with insight, enough that it belongs in any minister’s library. A few unique features are the sections on personal management (ministry call, ethics, family, time management, personal finances) and ministry transitions (moving, termination, candidating, negotiating). It serves as a good supplement, not replacement, of the more extensive administrative manuals.

Many questions that arise in church leadership go beyond the theories, models, and policies covered in standard leadership/administration resources. Church leaders often find themselves asking, “What do you do if…” and simply need seasoned advice. This is a good place to find that advice. It is in the same reference/encyclopedic genre as The Church Leader’s Answer Book.
