LifeandLeadership.com Description

It would be hard to overstate the impact of this book on Christians worldwide. Millions have used this curriculum to experience personal revival, become more attuned to God’s movement in the world, and position themselves to be used by God in his unfolding mission. It is written by the same authors as Fresh Encounter: God’s Plan for Your Spiritual Awakening. Just as Fresh Encounter helps individuals and churches participate in spiritual revival and awakening, Experiencing God helps them live with a constant, daily sense of God’s presence and vital participation in God’s work.

It is written in the same revivalistic style as Fresh Encounter, presenting a fairly patterned, sequential, definitive description of a “God does this,” then “We do this” dynamic. Some find this experientially and theologically discomforting. Others may simply augment the authors’ “always” and “nevers” about the way God works with “at times” and “rarely,” and then embrace this as a helpful elementary tutorial on living with a strong sense of the presence of God. Books like this, when accepted for what they are, may serve to challenge spiritual lethargy and facilitate heart-felt renewal of one’s relationship with God.

Some may wish to balance the Experiencing God resources with the evaluation of mystical spirituality by Michael Horton, In the Face of God, which was written several years before. Nevertheless, many Christians have healthfully deepened their walk with God through this curriculum. Experiencing God was the beginning of an extensive curriculum, and several of the volumes are linked below.
