LifeandLeadership.com Summary

Ken Hultman brings a diverse background as a counseling psychologist, university professor, and organizational development consultant. This book is perhaps the most thorough discussion of the reasons why people resist change and what leaders can do to address the resistance ethically and sensitively. It is full of helpful lists, surveys, assessment guides, and inventories to determine the reasons for resistance and follow targeted strategies to overcome it. An example is the list, “Strategies for Overcoming the Common Causes of Resistance” (188-189) which alone may be sufficient motivation for one to read the rest of the book. Though not targeted to churches, it is easily translatable into congregational concerns.
